Park View Alpacas has over 150
Huacaya and Suri alpacas for sale.

All are out of award-winning genetics!

EXCELLA of PVA, KOYOTO of PVA and PRIMO of PVA
FUTURITY 2007 COLOR CHAMPIONS

Regardless of our phenomenal success in the major show rings, and despite the fact that we have perhaps produced more alpacas that have won Color, Grand, and Supreme Championships at Major Shows than any other breeder in North America, that is NOT what we are breeding for! Indeed, we are not breeding for Blue Ribbons and Championship Banners. That is only one measuring device we utilize to verify the success of certain aspects of our breeding program. Other measures of our successes are not overtly exhibited in the show ring!

At Park Views Alpacas we are breeding for:

  • HEALTH
  • CONSISTENCY IN QUALITY
  • APPROPRIATE SIZE
  • PREDICTABILITY OF BREED
  • FLEECE QUALITY
  • REPRODUCTIVE SOUNDNESS
  • SUCCESS OF THE FUTURE

We don't just "Produce" alpacas from older or imported animals, we "Breed" them progressively, and we do so for all of these optimal qualities!

If you are breeding for HEALTH, you breed animals who exhibit predictable IgG and milk production, and who of course are free of genetic defects. You also breed to produce animals of normal size, growth, and development, as addressed below.

If you breed for CONSISTENCY IN QUALITY, you breed animals that continue to produce predictable show-winning offspring, generation after generation. Our results are that we have, in our herd, a multitude of Champions, out of Champions, out of Champions!

It just keeps getting better, generation after generation after generation! Our herdsires have produced relatively small Quantities of offspring, but a phenomenal consistency in Quality, not only in the show ring but in every desirable trait!!

If you breed for APPROPRIATE SIZE, you produce animals that are of adequate weight and stature as they are ready for weaning. If they enter the show ring and are compared to animals their same age, they appear appropriate regarding health and vitality. There is no such thing as a "Midget Alpaca." There are, unfortunately, alpacas that exhibit deleterious health and reproductive issues, or compromised nutrition, that would make them appear as such! In our opinion, the concept of "Starvation Fineness" is degrading to our industry as a whole, not just to ranches who practice this "technique."

If you breed for PREDICTABILITY OF BREED, you learn to expect the desired result of your breeding program. This pertains particularly to the Suri aspect of the industry. As the owners of what is most assuredly the largest and most predictable colored Suri herd in North America, and the developers and promoters of the "Breeding Purely Suri" doctrine, we can beyond a doubt state that there is no reason the astute Suri breeder cannot predict 100% Suri offspring! Personally, we have made two mistakes by buying Suris females from one ranch and breeding them to Suri males from another, which accounts for our greater than 99.5%, but less than 100% results, but we were, at that time, on a learning curve with the rest of the industry. Well, we have learned!

FLEECE QUALITY is one attribute that our entire industry should be breeding for. Although we have never overtly emphasized fleece, we have been pleasantly surprised that we have produced consistent quality in this regard. In actuality, our main Huacaya herdsire, Elite's Maximus, has won fleece shows on a Local, Regional, National, and even International level! His offspring, as well as that of our Suri alpacas, have won Color Championships at our AOBA National Show. This was not at a show ten years ago, but rather at the 2006 AOBA Show! In addition, we have received "Judges Choice" Trophies for both Huacaya and Suri at major shows, even both in the same show! We breed quality in regard to both fleece and conformation! Winning championships in fleece at the National Show indicates that we are certainly on tract in that regard. Emphasis or not, it is being proven!

REPRODUCTIVE SOUNDNESS is, beyond a doubt, one of the most important aspects of breeding in any livestock industry. Alpacas are not an exception! Although we have dabbled in some of the unsubstantiated Hype of some undocumented lines, we have noted, as have others, the lack of reproductive soundness exhibited by some highly-marketed pedigrees. As some are attempting to emphasize a "Breed Standard," we note that there is nothing mentioned about Reproductive Soundness!

Why, or how, is this possible that one of THE most important aspects to our future is not emphasized?

Kobe of PVA with son Diamonte of PVA

We at Park View fully realize that the Herdsires, as well as the Dams we have produced exhibit great reproductive capabilities. For instance, Kobe of PVA began settling females at age 1 year and 7 months. Similarly, the females out of the pedigrees we have created have been not just easy-to-breed, but more importantly good milk-producers, who have produced crias that achieved excellent size before weaning and certainly before entering the show ring.

If you breed for OVERALL PREDICTABILITY, you breed for virtually all of these qualities, and then some!

THE EMPHASIS OF OUR INDUSTRY SHOULD NOT BE ABOUT TODAY, IT SHOULD BE ABOUT TOMORROW!

We should be breeding for the success of the future of our industry! In our opinion, anyone who is not doing so should simply not be involve in our industry in any capacity!

This is not, in any way, a "Political" opinion. If anyone has a disagreement that we should ALL be breeding for:

  • HEALTH
  • CONSISTENCY IN QUALITY
  • APPROPRIATE SIZE
  • PREDICTABILITY OF BREED
  • FLEECE QUALITY
  • REPRODUCTIVE SOUNDNESS
  • SUCCESS OF THE FUTURE

Please let them voice their opinion! We welcome the discussion!

So what about Park View's personal contribution to the SUCCESS OF THE FUTURE? What have we personally shared with the industry in regard to our successes? We have not only exhibited significant "steps up the ladder" in regard to our own breeding program, but also shared our successes with others who have believed in our philosophy.

Indeed, we are VERY pleased with the incredible success that multiple alpacas we have sold have subsequently achieved in the show rings all over the country! We truly appreciate the opportunity to share our success with those in our industry who have chosen to believe in our overall breeding program!
No Hype, no Politics, all we do is breed alpacas and sell them on an ethical basis.

If you want to add these HEALTHY, WINNING, CONSISTENT, and PRODUCTIVE qualities of Park View Alpacas to your breeding program, please contact us to discuss your needs. Again, we have over 150 animals for sale, all of which were bred with this philosophy.

If you do not, thank you for reading this.
